BEING A MUM IS HARD

Before becoming a mum I never understood why would someone want to have that responsibility, why would you want to be pregnant and go through child birth - Child birth sounded painful and scary. When I was pregnant with Winston, I was 20 years old and I would be lying if I said I wasn't freaking out. I freaked out because I never pictured myself having kids (ever), but I do believe in the saying "everything happens for reason" and that helped me a lot, and I started to enjoy being pregnant and couldn't wait to meet my little man.

Being 20 years old and pregnant, and being the only one out of my friends that was pregnant I didn't have many people to talk to about pregnancy and what is it like being a parent. When I did have the chance to ask someone who is a parent they were quick to say to me -

"Good-bye to sleep, so get as much sleep as you can!"

"Good-bye to sex"

"Being a parent is extremely hard"

"Child birth, don't get me started - Your vagina will be forever ruined"

"Wine will be your new best friend"

"Say good-bye to your social life"

I don't and still don't understand why most parents are quick to say something negative about what it is like being a parent. Don't get me wrong being a mum can be exhausting, stressful and frustrating at times. But being a mum is exciting, rewarding and the greatest thing on earth. Seeing them roll, crawl and walk for the first time is unforgettable memories.

I love being a mum. My children motivate me, they have taught me patience, love on a different level and they have made me become a better person.
