OUR FIRST TRIP TO SYDNEY

My partner went down to Sydney for work, and we didn't want him to spend his birthday a lone so we flew two days after for only two nights. My mum came with me as well, because Winston was still classed as an infant and he needed to be sitting on someone's lap. Few days before our flight, I started to feel anxious flying with a 5 month old and 22 month old without my partner. I was worried about their ears popping, them being unsettled and what if one of the kids refused to stay seated on my mums lap.
GOLD COAST TO SYDNEY -
Our flight was a late afternoon flight, and our plane landed at 7:20pm in Sydney. Of course both of the kids didn't have their proper nap during the day, and so they were extremely tired and cranky. Boarding onto the plane was fine and 5 minutes in, my kids went from 0-100. Let's just say my kids were the one's you didn't want to be sitting near. Neither of my kids wanted to stay seated on my mums lap. I had to hold my daughter while standing up, trying to rock her to sleep while trying to stop my son from climbing on the chair and annoying other passengers.
FINALLY we landed! Thank goodness. I turned my phone off airplane mode and got a message from my partner saying the hired car is unavailable. Long story short - Days before our flight, we booked a hired car through the airport online, and the car we have hired was all unavailable and the ones that were available he had to be over 25 years old to hire. Most annoying part was he turns 25 in a few hours. We decided to not worry about the car, and focus on getting the kids to the apartment. We had to take the train, which was an hour train ride. Eventually we arrived to the apartment, and by that time we were hungry and of course all restaurants were shut.
DAY ONE IN SYDNEY -
I was expecting Sydney to be colder than the Gold Coast, but it wasn't too bad in the sun but in the shade - oh my! We went out for breakfast, and went exploring the area. That evening we caught the train to Westfield Hornsby, and walked around the shopping mall.
SYDNEY TO GOLD COAST -
Again, I was feeling anxious but this time our flight was at 5:30am and I was just hoping the kids would be asleep during the flight. 30 minutes before we were about to leave the apartment, I receive a text message from JETSTAR saying our flight has been cancelled due to technical issues. I called JETSTAR straight away and our flight got changed to 11:05am. I remained calm and told myself i'm not going to let anything bother me.
We arrived to the airport and of course our flight got delayed another 30 minutes, and at this point I just want to be home. Finally it was time to board and my daughter fell asleep in my mums arm, and to be honest I was cheering inside. My son on the other hand was extremely energised. During take off my son got really unsettled, and I breastfed him and he fell asleep straight away. Both kids slept through entire flight.
