Please introduce yourself -

Im Gabrielle, 21 from Canberra :)

Who came up with the name for your baby and why?

I honestly had lists and lists of baby names! But I came across one I really Loved a couple of days before Bub arrived and it just stuck! As soon as we met him, we just knew :) He also has two middle names, one is my dad and brothers middle name, and the other is my partners dads name. Both of our dads have sadly passed so it comes with great meaning to us both.

Did you have a good pregnancy?

I had such an easy pregnancy I am so lucky, it was initially a lot to come to terms with as I found out I was pregnant at 17 weeks along! But it means the waiting time was less!

Where were you and what was your first reaction when you found out you were pregnant?

I was at work, and I cried my little eyes out as it was a massive shock. I had thought oh what if the test was positive, that would be crazy! What would I do? But I honestly never expected it to be.

What has changed the most since becoming a mother?

A lot has changed. My body, my friends, my general life! But I wouldn't change a damn thing. Everything happens the way it's meant to and I hair count every single blessing.

What were your first thoughts when you saw your baby for the first time?

I was honestly pretty out of it. My 17 hour labour ended in an emergency Caesarian, but I remember being so happy to see him, so happy that he was finally here and so happy to see my partner filled with all that mushy love! I got to watch the umbilical cord being cut, I got to have the very first snuggle and I watched my newborn baby open his eyes to check out the world. It was a magical experience!

Has your lifestyle change drastically after having your baby?

Yes! Before Harper was born, I was out every weekend, working just to buy clothes and shoes and makeup and to spend it going out. I lived at home with my mum and brother, I had loads of friends and was constantly on the go. But since having him, looking back on my past life, I would much prefer to be where I am now, my life is so much more rewarding and exciting!

What do you miss the most before becoming a mother?

I'm so enjoying my journey and I am so in love with my son! But I miss sleeping all night! Or sleeping all day on a Sunday. Sometimes I miss being selfish, but I do get to take time out to myself here and there, so I am very lucky!

What do you love about being a mother?

I love midnight snuggles, laughter, smiles! I love buying baby things and dressing him in cute outfits. I love watching him learn and grow every day. I love the feeling I get knowing he's going to be in my life forever. I am so excited to go through life's journey with him.

Any advice for soon to be mothers or already mothers?

Just to be confident in your ability to be a mother, there are always going to be little

Struggles or maybe even big struggles that you have to face. Make sure you have some kind of support and always stay confident in yourself because you've got this!!!
