The idea of travelling with a baby for the first time could be overwhelming. In the moment, booking a holiday was a great idea and hours later I got hit with reality and realised my son was only 3 months old. I started thinking HOW IS HE GOING TO REACT TO HIS EARS POPPING? WHAT DO I PACK? HOW AM I GOING TO KEEP HIM ENTERTAINED ON AN EIGHT HOUR FLIGHT?! WHAT IF HE DOESN'T SLEEP ON THE PLANE? WHAT IF HE GETS UNCOMFORTABLE AND CRIES THE WHOLE WAY? Flying with a 3 month old - AirAsia Airlines - Economy Class The first time my partner and I travelled by plane with our son was when he was 3 months old. We flew from Gold Coast Australia, to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and we stayed in Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights. From Kuala Lumpur we flew to Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and stayed there for two weeks. From Ho Chi Minh City we flew back to Kuala Lumpur, and from Kuala Lumpur we flew back home. To be honest I was stressing about what to pack and if I was packing too much or too less. My partner kept asking me 'do we really need that?' and if I thought about it for more than a minute then I don't pack it. When it comes to packing clothes, don't pack too much and only pack the pieces you and your baby always wear because you will most likely be buying clothes when your on your holiday. When it cames to diapers, I packed enough for the flight there and the first two days because you can always buy more diapers while your there. The day I doubled checked all of our luggage bags and the diaper bag. I made sure Winston was comfortable and breastfed before we left home so on the way to the airport he was happy. We arrived to the airport 2.5 hours before our flight departures. We checked in when we arrived to the airport, so we didn't have to worry about it later and we went and got food and relaxed until it was time to board. Two minutes before the plane took off, I breastfed our son so when we take off his ears won't pop, and he stayed asleep for the entire flight! On the way home it was a little bit different. Instead of sleeping all the way back, he was only asleep for half of the flight. We just did the same thing, and breastfed him when we were about to take off, and we kept him entertained. I also breastfed him when we were about to land. Tip's that helped me
React to your baby and do what you feel is natural and makes you and your baby comfortable, and don't think your doing the wrong thing. When your about to take off and before you land breastfeed your baby, give them a bottle or the dummy to avoid your baby getting blocked ears and try to remain calm and relaxed because your baby can sensed when your not. What I packed for my son

2x dressed shirts
4x shorts

Entertainment iPad - Winston wasn't used to watching movies or playing games on the iPad, so it didn't really helped us. But I know it would help most kids. Books and Toys - We brought a couple of books and a couple of his favourite toys onto the plane and that kept him entertained for a few minutes. Pillows/Blankets - Normally the planes provides you a pillow and a blanket but we wanted our son to be comfortable, so we packed our own pillow and blanket.
- Flying with a 6 month old - Qantas Airlines - Economy Class
We flew from Brisbane Australia, to Singapore and stayed in Singapore for 5 nights and we flew from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and stayed there for two weeks. From Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) we flew back to Singapore and stayed there for 3 nights. from Singapore we flew back to Brisbane.
I'm not going to go into too much detail about this time travel because I packed similar things as last time. This time I borrowed my sisters 'light weight travelling' pram and to be honest I started to regret bringing it because he only used it twice out of the whole three weeks we were overseas. It started to become a pain to carry around. The difference between last time and this time was the different airline we travelled with. I highly recommend Qantas, defiantly was worth that extra money. Amazing service, everyone had good vibes and was friendly and there was a lot of leg room. This time round Winston was more used to eating solids, we packed him a few of those organic pre packed puree's, some biscuits for the flight and the airline provided us food so he also had some steam vegetables.
