When I fell pregnant with Winston, I was 20 years old and to be honest I felt scared and confused. I didn't know what to do, and telling my parents was the last thing I wanted to do. I started to think maybe having this baby wasn't a good idea because I was still living at home, and I didn't have a full time job and I was in a negative head space at the time.

PREGNANCY TEST My periods were always late, and so I didn't think I was pregnant. I told my friend that my period was late and she joked about me being pregnant, and that afternoon I started to think 'what if I am?'. To ease my mind I purchased a home pregnancy test, the one where you urinate on the end of a stick and have to wait 3 minutes for the results. LONGEST 3 MINUTES! After seeing those two blue lines I went straight to my bedroom and started playing scenarios in my head and kept asking myself - "Will I be a good mother?" "Am I ready to become a mother?" "How can I provide for my baby without a full time job?" THE FIRST ULTRASOUND I was really nervous for my first ultrasound and on top of that I had to drink 1.5 litre of water an hour before my appointment and I felt like I was going to explode! I got to my appointment on time and I had to wait for another 15 minutes, and that was the longest 15 minutes of my life. That day my life changed. Seeing this tiny little human moving up and down and hearing his little healthy heart beat made me fall in love with him instantly and I started to see the positive side of the situation. TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE DUE DATE

I had a really good pregnancy compare to what I read online and what other mothers told me about their pregnancy experience. I didn't get morning sickness, or heart burn and my food cravings was normal but I would eat twice as much than I normally would. Being a first mother I didn't know what to be expecting but all I knew was I couldn't wait to meet my baby boy.

Two weeks before my due date I went shopping with my partner for 4 hours, and when we got home I went into the kitchen to make myself food and all a sudden I got this cramp in my lower stomach. The cramp became stronger and my lower stomach has been cramping for 2.5 hours now, so at that point I started to think I might be in labour! I called my midwife and explained what was going on and she asked me a couple question and told me it was just braxton hicks. THE NIGHT AFTER The next night the pain got worse, and I barely could walk and I couldn't bare the pain any more and I called my midwife and explained what was going on and she asked me to come into the hospital. Four hours later they sent me home with a couple of pain relief and told me it was impossible that I was in labour because I was still able to walk, talk and I wasn't due for another two weeks. NIGHT THREE I went to bed at 8:00pm to sleep off the pain and I kept waking up every 30 minutes, and every 30 minutes became every 5 minutes and my body started to naturally push. It was now 3:00am, I slowly made my way to the toilet and I noticed there was a bit of mucus and brown blood on my underwear and naturally I freaked out. I called my midwife, and she told me to put a pad on and monitor it. 30 minutes later I went to check my pad and it looked like there was more mucus and blood. I instantly called my midwife, and she asked me to come into the hospital to get looked at. We arrived to the hospital at 4:00am. The midwife asked me few questions and was about to send me home. Before she sent me home, the midwife checked my pad and she walked out of the room and came back in with the doctor. The doctor checked if I had dilated, and the doctor looked at me and said "You're 9cm dilated and you will be seeing your baby boy very soon". On 22/08/2014 at 9:36am Winston arrived safely into the world by natural birth, weighing at 3.6kg and 50cm long.
